About | Creative Team | Corporate Engagement | Gallery | For Presenters
Developed at the intersection of professional and community-based dance creation, Everyday Marvels is based on a volume of poetry authored by Governor General Award winning poet Lorna Crozier called The Book of Marvels: A compendium of everyday things. The quotidian objects interpreted in Crozier’s poems, such as ‘radiator’, ‘spoons’, ‘flashlight’ and ‘sky’, are brought to life by a group of eight Toronto-based contemporary choreographers including Robert Abubo, Julia Aplin, Susie Burpee, Valerie Calam, Peter Chin, Marie-Josée Chartier, Shannon Litzenberger and Dan Wild.
The show features a series of short vignettes, performed by a talented cast of professional and community-based dancers, including an enthusiastic team of bankers from the Royal Bank of Canada’s premiere dance group
– The Mobile Assets.

Community Engagement
The HOMEbody Symposium
In 2015 HOMEbody was the catalyst and inspiration for The HOMEbody Symposium in New Brunswick - a day-long symposium exploring the significance of place. In partnership with Atlantic Ballet Theatre, The HOMEbody Symposium brought together over 270 entrepreneurs, community leaders, students, artists, academics, social entrepreneurs and industry specialists from across the province to share stories and exchange ideas on shaping New Brunswick’s future.
The packed, fully bilingual symposium featured presentations by John Bragg, Chairman & Co-CEO of Oxford Frozen Foods Ltd., President and Owner/Founder of Eastlink; Richard Saillant, Director of the Canadian Institute for Research on Public Policy and Public Administration; award-winning Canadian Author Noah Richler, and dancer-choreographer Shannon Litzenberger. Participants also hear the stories of twenty-two emerging businesses, placed makers and social ventures that are ‘making it’ in New Brunswick.
“The symposium sought to change negative perceptions and attitudes about New Brunswick as well as build pride of place among future community builders. It connected young people with community change-makers and leaders who chose to stay in New Brunswick by carving their unique paths to success. The focus of the day was to challenge the group to help “Create the Story” of new Brunswick as a place of innovation and opportunity.”
- Susan Chalmers-Gauvin, CEO, Atlantic Ballet Theatre
The HOMEbody Symposium provided a unique platform for public discourse. It was a testament to the ways in which art can inspire the coming together of the community and lead important conversations about our collective future.
The day’s activities and outcomes were documented in: text, photo, film and art through captured in a beautiful online e-book available here: https://pub.lucidpress.com/thehomebodysymposium/
